“My nonrepresentational work deals with volume, shape, texture, size, color and proportion. These works are consciously separated, polished and colored to create the desired art form. The spheres are the ultimate in volume. For me, spheres represent the universe which encompasses space, time, and eternity. The development of the internal space of the sphere is the most relevant. I try to create worlds and universes of the mind which contain labyrinths of eternity, light, color, and space. All components are in harmony. Each component creates a visual whole that becomes more significant the longer these depths are contemplated.” — Derek Wernher, Jan. 2004
